EasterDr. Kantor recently had another great interview with Utah Family Magazine, this time to discuss healthier alternatives to the typical Easter treats and his new children’s book, The Green Box League of Nutritious Justice. Easter is almost like Halloween when it comes to sugary treats, with school parties, Easter baskets and family gatherings. We can’t totally deprive our children though, instead we need to keep modification and moderation in mind.  Moderate by giving them a controlled portion of candy, and modify the usual treats with healthier versions (check back for the full article for great recipes for Easter treats like creme filled chocolate eggs).

They also discussed Kantor’s new healthy resource book for families, The Green Box League of Nutritious Justice. This great book won the Mom’s Choice Award within 30 days of being published, and is nominated for several other awards.  All of the fruits ,veggies and proteins are animated in engaging comics, and included are exercises that can be done as a family, recipes for breakfast, lunch and dinner, healthy living articles and more. The goal is if they can see, it hear, color it and spell it, we can teach our kids that an apple is healthier than a cupcake; they surely aren’t doing that in schools. We must lead by example; if the kids see that leading a healthy lifestyle is important part of your life, they will make it an important part of their life too.
