Dr. Kantor gives helpful tips for a fun and healthy Halloween to WADE, Atlanta’s  NPR Radio.  He suggests that we don’t buy the candy ahead of time Healthy Halloweenbecause most of us just can’t resist it if it’s in the house. Also, make sure that children eat a good meal and drink plenty of water before they go trick or treating.  If they don’t, they will be more likely to binge when they get home.  If you give out candy, at least try and go for the all-natural or organic candies that have real sugar instead of HFCS.  Some good examples of these are Newman’s Own chocolate, Annie’s organic fruit snacks, and Pure Fun fruit rocks.  What do we do with all of the candy after Halloween night? Dr. Kantor suggest that you have your children pick a few of their favorite candies, and donate the rest so that they aren’t eating excessive amounts over sugar over the next few weeks.
