There are quite a few sources for stress in today’s world.  Stress goes far beyond mental and emotional issues.

  • Mental/Emotional
  • Illness
  • Heavy Exercise
  • Environmental/Chemical
  • Food
  • Nutritional Deficiencies

It’s important to remember that when stress increases – immunity decreases.  The effects of stress can be far-reaching and impact multiple functions.

  • Ability to lose weight
  • Poor sleep
  • Fatigue
  • Low blood sugar
  • Poor concentration
  • Headaches
  • Hormonal issues

Your adrenal glands begin to get tired after continued exposure to stress.  There are 3 phases of adrenal stress.

  • Alarm – the ‘fight or flight mode.’  For example, you have a close call in traffic.
  • Adaptive – your body is under stress on a continuous basis.  Your body is constantly fighting back.
  • Adrenal Exhaustion – your body doesn’t have the energy or resources to fight any more and your body becomes vulnerable to other attacks.

You obviously have to deal with the factors that are producing stress.  In addition, your adrenals/body needs specific nutrients to begin the recovery process.  There are a number of nutrients that can help support healthy adrenal function.  These include the B-vitamins, zinc, magnesium, adaptogenic herbs (ashwagandha, rhodiola, ginseng, cordyceps, gymnema sylvestre) and amino acids like L-Tyrosine & L-Theanine.  These items can be found in most health food stores.  You can also use a combination formulation, which will likely save you a substantial amount of money as compared to separate purchases.
