In an interview with Kathy Johnson of Nova Scotia News, Dr. Kantor talks about everything from his new book and healthy eating, to health care. He reminds us that we don’t really have a health care system, we have a disease and accident management system.  The real concept of healthy care however, should be to prevent healthy eatingdisease, and the easiest way to do that is by living a healthier lifestyle.  We need to put more of an emphasis on healthy diet and being active.  As far as children are concerned, we often overlook what they are drinking; far too many juices filled with dyes, sugars, artificial sweeteners that can add up to hundreds and thousands of calories a day.  We need to focus on drinking more water, including delicious fruit infused waters as a starting place for proper nutrition. Engagement is critical too. If we gets kids involved in what they are eating by taking them to the store, and having them prepare food with us, they will take ownership of it and be more likely to eat it. Above all else, parents must play an active role and be the best possible positive role model.
