Weight Loss Stalled? Slow Metabolism?

It Might Be Inflammation!

How many times have you felt like your metabolism has stalled? Are your weight loss efforts giving you minimal results? Believe it or not, this is another area that inflammation can affect. Food sensitivities can lead to inflammation because your body thinks it is being ‘attacked’ by a food, instead of being nourished. This inflammation causes your body to decrease sensitivity to insulin and leptin – both of these hormones control important functions, including blood sugar, energy, appetite and fat storage. Inflammation can be caused by a number of different things. Some of these are:

  • Food allergies (dairy, gluten, nuts, coffee, etc.)
  • Stress
  • Poor sleep
  • Over-exercising…or, lack of exercise
  • Bad food choices
  • Periodontal disease
  • Gastrointestinal issues
  • Obesity

The resulting inflammation can seriously compromise your metabolism and ability to efficiently lose fat. As we mentioned in our previous articles, inflammation can be a good thing — in moderation. If it becomes chronic, it can affect digestion, heart health, liver function, fluid retention, fat loss, blood sugar, immune function, fat loss and your metabolism.  Inflammation is many times ‘silent.’ We don’t realize that some symptoms we experience are signs of a deeper problem. Digestive issues are a good example. When you consider the consumer demand for OTC drugs for gas, bloating and indigestion alone — it’s staggering.
Getting inflammation in control can help you lose those unwanted pounds and inches…and reward you with some fantastic health benefits!
