USA TodayAnyone can run from zombies these days — several fitness apps and programs make this promise — but can you do it at work, with (or against) your co-workers?

A new corporate wellness program leverages the running-from-zombies motif as a way to get employees to help each other exercise more, eat better and even drink more water. A Step Ahead: Zombies, pits teams of players against “an advancing zombie horde,” with real-world steps and other behaviors adding up to a weekly team total that gets players to “safehouses” over the course of six-week challenges.

Sounds exactly like your workplace, right?

Teams of five to 15 players work together to outrun the zombies, but here’s the thing: If you fall behind, you risk becoming a zombie yourself. For some players, that’s a motivator to do more and urge their teammates to do more, said company founder Mike Tinney. For others, becoming a zombie is, well, kind of fun. Who wouldn’t want to turn as many co-workers as possible into zombies?

Piloted at a half dozen companies last fall, it’s now available commercially. A longtime veteran of the gaming industry, Tinney said preliminary trials showed that 86% of participants walked more while playing the game….READ FULL ARTICLE HERE.
