Braised Broccoli

Description/Intro: If you cannot stand the taste of steamed vegetables, this braised broccoli is a healthy alternative to cooking vegetables and retaining the nutritional value. Broccoli is a vegetable that naturally detoxifies the body, great for those who are cancer survivors and anyone who is looking for a natural immune boost.

Prep time: 3 min.

Cook time – 8-10 min.

Number of servings – 4-5

Serving size – 3/4-1 c

Difficulty – easy

Ingredients:

1 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil

6 cloves fresh garlic, very finely minced

4 cups fresh broccoli cut into pieces

½ tsp sea salt

¼ cup water

Black pepper to taste

Juice of 1 fresh lemon

Directions:

 

Place oil and garlic in a skillet over medium-low heat. Cook, stirring frequently for 2 minutes, but do not burn the garlic.

Stir in broccoli, salt, pepper, lemon juice and water.

Cover and increase heat to high. When you hear a strong sizzle, reduce heat to low and cook for 2–3 minutes, stirring frequently.  The broccoli should still be a bright green color ensuring that it is retaining nutrients.

Serve immediately.
