In my recent interview with Ming Pao Newspaper, I discussed causes and ways to prevent childhood obesity.  In the Unites States, 1/3 of our children are childhood obesityconsidered overweight or obese and these children generally end up being overweight adults.  This contributes to our nations overall obesity problem, and in turn puts a huge burden on our health care system.  Health issues like heart disease and type 2 diabetes are directly related to poor nutritional habits and being overweight.

So what can we do about this problem? We need to start with educating the children in proper nutrition and fitness.  This is no longer focused on at school, which means that parents need to take it upon themselves to educate their families and be positive role models.  I like to share healthy living and eating tips, recipes, and provide valuable resources to many radio and TV shows to help in this education process.  I have written a family resource book for healthy living, The Green Box League of Nutritious Justice, and created a free app that children will love, Green Box Heroes, as an effort to make healthy living fun for kids and their families.
