The company’s registered dietitians and fitness experts are donating their time and experience to schools, organizations and businesses to help both students and adults engage in healthy living in conjunction with the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition

ATLANTA, July 22Green Box Foods and company CEO Dr. Keith Kantor recently became a President’s Challenge Advocate to promote the Presidential Active Lifestyle Award (PALA+) at schools, organizations and businesses across the United States. The President’s Challenge is a program of the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition (PCFSN), whose mission is to engage, educate and empower all Americans across their lifespan to adopt a healthy lifestyle that includes regular physical activity and good nutrition.

As a President’s Challenge Advocate, Green Box Foods and Dr. Kantor will help raise awareness of the PALA+, which encourages regular physical activity and good nutrition for both children and adults. The President’s Challenge is the premier program of the PCFSN and is administered by the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU)/Indiana University.

The President’s Challenge program helps participants maintain or improve their health, and anyone age 6 and older can earn their PALA+.The physical activity requirements to earn a PALA+ award are 60 minutes per day for children and 30 minutes per day for adults, five days a week for six out of eight weeks. The nutrition component requires participants to add a weekly healthy eating goal, such as eating smaller portions, drinking water instead of sugary drinks or trying seafood, and build upon those goals throughout the same time period.

Dr. Kantor and Green Box Foods staff members are currently working with a number of schools, organizations and other businesses to help students and adults engage in healthy living while away from school and in their day-to-day lives. Green Box Foods’ registered dietitians and fitness experts are available to communicate with challenge participants, free of charge, to give recommended advice on activities and proper nutrition. Once participants complete the PALA+ activity form and send it in, Dr. Kantor issues the PALA+ award, which is signed by NFL standout Drew Brees and Olympic gymnast Dominique Dawes.

“It’s so important that children develop a healthy lifestyle that includes regular physical activity and good nutrition while they’re young. Unfortunately, many schools have been forced to eliminate gym classes, and children aren’t learning the foundations of healthy eating. We’re also working to encourage and motivate adults to adopt a healthy lifestyle no matter their age,” says Dr. Kantor.“Green Box Foods is very proud to become a President’s Challenge Advocate. There’s absolutely no cost to schools, organizations or businesses to take the challenge, and we’re striving for 100 percent participation to help lead everyone in developing a healthy lifestyle.”
