MSN recently asked Dr. Kantor to weigh in on the connection between personality and some of the foods that we enjoy.
Hot foods/hot chili peppers– If one enjoys spicy foods it indicates they are more of a risk taker, passionate and have a higher tolerance to change.
Sour/tart foods– Research has shown those who consume bitter foods tend to be more judgmental and harsher on those around them.
Comforting carbs like pasta or bread – Those who enjoy comforting bland foods like breads and pastas indicate that they are not risk takers and are resistant to change.
Exotic foods – Exotic foods tend to be eaten by those who enjoy and prefer change, enjoy traveling and adventure.
Savory foods/ those with lots of spices but not necessarily hot. Spices like oregano, basil, rosemary, etc. – Research has shown that those who enjoy savory foods are less pleasant compared to those who enjoy sweet foods like cookies, cakes, etc. Sugar addicts have been shown to be more willing to help people out.
Salty foods/French fries– Those who enjoy salty foods like French fries and other fast and convenient salty treats tend to crave small rewards and immediate gratification in life and they have also been shown to be in a rush frequently.
Tangy or citrus foods like oranges and limes– Tangy food lovers have been shown to crave excitement and adventure in life, similar to those who like exotic foods.
