emergency rooms Fran of  Total Food Service recently asked Dr. Kantor’s opinion on the reason behind the sudden rise of freestanding emergency rooms.  He says that he has seen them popping up around Atlanta, more and more over the past few years. They are around for convenience because the typical waits are much shorter that what someone would see in the actual ER. Entrepreneurs have seen the need for these, much like the need for concierge doctors. and are trying to fill it around the country, especially in anticipation of doctor shortages.  Because of Obamacare there will be longer waits for doctor appointments,  longer waits in the office and shorter time actually spent with the doctor, all reasons why many more people will just turn to the emergency room.  The overall impact that Obamacare is going to have, is the development of a two-tier health care system. There will be those that have to go through the Obamacare type system with long waits and overcrowding, and then those who have the financial means to pay more, who will see concierge doctors and visit freestanding ER’s.
