Randy West of WRMS Radio spoke with Dr. Kantor about everything from the Blue Ribbon Advisory Committee which Dr. Kantor chaired, to the question of why young Americans are not signing up for Obamacare. They discuss some of the basic principles of Obamacare, why we are seeing delays and why there is distrust amongst the American public, especially younger Americans. In fact, the administration is partnering with a group called Young Invincibles which are running a contest called the Healthy Young America Video Contest to try and get those who are skeptical about health care involved. They want young people to submit videos which basically advertise the benefits of the Obamacare exchanges. The problem is that the administration promised that 30 million new people would be coming into the health insurance arena to compensate for the expense of the new mandates. They weren’t able to come through with this, however, because the penalties of not following the new mandates are too small to force anyone to pay for insurance. As a result, young people are taking the brunt of the insurance increases. This is supposedly phase one, what can we expect as we move towards other phases and a single payer system?
