Affordable Care ActWith all of the talk and the headlines surrounding the Affordable Care Act, why do so many Americans still not know what it is, or how it works? Dr. Kantor tells WLKF Radio  that because the law is so complicated, and there have been so many changes and delays, many people are having a hard time both understanding and trusting in it.  It wasn’t really designed to fix the health care system in the first place. The concept was to really just make health insurance more affordable for more people, and keep the uninsured out of emergency rooms.  What we are seeing happen however, is the emergence of a two-tiered health care system, separating those with the means for private, concierge doctors from everyone else.  Dr. Kantor believes that the government will use the fact that the Affordable Care Act doesn’t work and that it isn’t affordable for so many Americans, as an excuse to go to a single payer system.  Can the health care system be fixed? Dr. Kantor says that it can, but we have to go back to the basics and teach our children how to live a healthy lifestyle. We need to focus on preventative care, instead of simply treating accidents and diseases.
