Schools these days aren’t doing enough to teacher proper nutrition and provide physical education to our children.  This combined with poor physical educationchoices being made at home, has contributed to childhood obesity more than doubling in children and quadrupling in adolescents over the past 30 years.  The Washington Park Profile recently discussed these upsetting facts with Dr. Kantor.  We have stopped exercising in schools, and at home children are often found on computers or in front of video games.  Our children today are leading a more sedentary lifestyle both and home and in school, which is why we have this obesity epidemic.  Dr. Kantor has written a healthy lifestyle book for families called, The Green Box League of Nutritious Justice, to try and put the focus back on healthy living, starting with our families and youth.  This book is full of comics, activities, recipes, exercises and more, with colorful animation and engaging activities to catch children’s attention. If our schools are not going to help in the fight against obesity, parents must be vigilant in teaching their own children about healthy living, and must get involved themselves.
