Wellness Programs w/ WDRC Connecticut

Dr. Kantor discusses his opinions on whether health and wellness programs actually work with WDRC News Radio. Insurance costs are rising, and as a result some companies are beginning to institute penalties for their employees who smoke, are overweight, etc. So a big questions is, do you have to use penalties, or can health and wellness programs work through incentives and education? Wellness companies like Dr. Kantor’s, Green Box Foods, have seen a huge response by being positive and focusing on helping people want to make the choice to live a healthier lifestyle.  They provide recipes, track calories, make customized exercise programs and give employees the overall education that they need to make healthy choices for themselves. Another benefit is that health care costs are actually lowered because employers receive discounts of 2-9% just for using the wellness platform.
