Keith Kantor, nutritionist, CEO of Service Foods, an Atlanta, Ga., health and wellness community, and author of “What Matters,” a book exploring the health care crisis in America, said he doesn’t want to suck the fun out of ringing in the new year.

Rather, he wants to prevent us from morning-after remorse by offering a plan to live by today, tomorrow or any day.

The average American gains five to 10 pounds over the holiday season.

“And a lot of us don’t lose the weight (after),” Kantor said. “But if we don’t lose the weight, and we are gaining five pounds a year, after three or four years, it is very undesirable for that individual — and not healthy.”

People should never deny the existence of “weight creep,” he said. But they also shouldn’t accept it as inevitable with age.
