Foods that can reduce sex drive:
Soy based foods including soy beans, tofu, veggie burgers and soy milk all contain estrogen mimickers which can reduce testosterone levels in the blood, specifically those who consume over 120 mg. or more per day. This results in a decreased sex drive according to the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
Processed carbohydrates made from refined white flours including graham crackers, cookies, breads can decrease testosterone levels. The sugar form these products can cause weight gain and raise the level of estrogen depleting the testosterone levels, resulting in less sexual desires and poor libido.
Foods with added hormones and antibiotics including dairy and mainstream protein sources of fish, poultry, and meat. The added hormones in these foods can also increase estrogen levels and suppress testosterone levels, resulting in a suppressed sex drive. Instead aim to consume grass-fed, all natural organic and free-range animal products.
Foods that boost sex drive:
Strawberries are great for sex drive, not only are they “ sexy to eat” they are rich in potent antioxidants, which help with circulation in heart and arteries. They are also rich in vitamin C, which helps boost sperm count in men.
Avocados are a good source of heart-healthy monounsaturated fats. Anything that helps your heart and circulation can also be critical for a healthy sex life. Men with heart disease are twice as likely to have erectile dysfunction because both conditions can result from artery damage.
Almonds contain zinc, selenium, and vitamin E, which are vitamins and minerals that are important for sexual health and reproduction.
Selenium can help with infertility issues and coupled with vitamin E, may help heart health. Zinc is a mineral that helps produce men’s sex hormones and can boost libido.
Watermelon is high in potentially libido-boosting phytonutrients. Research suggests that the lycopene, citrulline, and beta-carotene found in watermelon may help relax blood vessels, and provide a natural enhancement for revving up your sex drive.
Oysters provide a boost in hormone production which translates into heightened sexual desire in many cases. They are also an excellent source of zinc, which aids blood flow to sexual organs in both genders.
